![]() Before beginning to exercise, it's always important to stretch. Stretching can help prevent injury, so always make sure to start with it. A way you can stretch your jaw muscle it to place your tongue on the roof of your mouth. Once your tongue is on the roof of your mouth, open your mouth slowly. Go as far as you can and then hold your mouth open for 10 seconds. Repeat this process several times before exercising. The Thumb TechniqueOne of the jaw exercises we love the most is the thumb technique. This simple exercise will help to improve the strength of your jaw muscle. Place one of your thumbs on the bottom of your chin while your mouth is closed. Then, begin applying a small amount of pressure to the bottom of your chin with your thumb. Open and close your mouth while keeping the pressure steady the whole time. Do this in sets of 10 once a day, and you'll have a strong jaw in no time.No matter what kind of exercise you're doing, it's important to only do what you're comfortable with. If you feel any pain in your jaw while performing these exercises, stop immediately so you don't cause any damage. If you feel that you've hurt yourself, please contact us. We will be able to assist you over the phone. It may also be necessary to come in for a visit if the pain is bad enough. |
