|A letter on coronavirus awareness from Cameo Dental Specialists|
|•||Autogenous graft. An autogenous graft is one that uses your bone material. The bone is considered to be living. As such, the graft material can promote new bone growth. Because it is your bone, there is no risk of infection or rejection.
|•||Allogenic graft. An allogenic bone graft uses bone material from a donor. The bone is not living. It is just used to fill the void left behind by bone loss. Your bone grows around it.
|•||Xenogenic graft. A xenogenic bone graft uses bone material from another species. The bone material is processed at extremely high temperatures, which reduces the risk of infection and rejection.
|•||Synthetic materials. In some cases, we may choose to use a synthetic bone graft material to fill the spaces created by resorption. There are a few different types of synthetic graft materials such as demineralized bone matrix and bone morphogenic proteins.|
