WHAT IS A DENTAL IMPLANT?
When you have a missing tooth, it is unbelievably important to get that taken care of as soon as humanly possible. Leaving the gap can lead to bone loss, gum disease, and the decay and movement of the surrounding teeth. A dental implant is a great way to solve this problem. This is a small post made of titanium (in rarer instances we can use zirconium as well) that is surgically installed in the gap left behind by a missing tooth. This post acts as the root of a false tooth, whether that is a crown, a bridge, or a fixed denture system. It is stronger than your natural tooth root and fuses completely with your jawbone. This means that it is immensely comfortable and feels natural.

DO DENTAL IMPLANTS HURT?
Dental implants do not hurt during the procedure. You are under a local or general anesthetic during the surgery. You may experience some discomfort in the days following because the area was disturbed and incisions were made. However, the pain is usually mild and can be managed with over the counter medication. It passes after a couple of days.
Dental implants are nothing to fear, and our surgeons will take great care of you the entire time you are in the chair, and beyond. You will be in extremely careful and capable hands.
