Finally, endodontists are quite skilled at tooth extraction, whether it’s a simple or surgical extraction.
A root canal becomes necessary when a tooth experiences physical trauma that damages the pulp, or deep infection from a cavity. Endodontists will remove the damaged portions of the tooth and replace it with an inert material, finishing the tooth permanently with a crown. The gums aren’t the only thing that periodontists are concerned with; the cementum, periodontal ligaments, dental implant placement, and alveolar bone are also within their wheelhouse.
Periodontal disease is one of the leading causes of tooth loss, which is why it’s important that you come in for regular cleanings and examinations at least twice a year. The early stages of gum disease (periodontal disease) can be reversed, but if you let it go untreated for too long, it will enter the late stages and become irreversible.
For those suffering from late-stage periodontal disease, we offer scaling and root planing treatments, which do a great job of lessening the effects of periodontal disease.
