Our Berwyn doctors who lead our experienced and highly trained staff perform a wide range of dental procedures with specialties in Periodontics, Endodontics, and Oral Surgery.
CAMEO DENTAL SPECIALISTS BERWYN OFFICE PERIODONTICS
A Periodontist is a dentist who has received additional education specializing in Periodontology. Periodontists focus is on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontial (gum) disease and dental implant placement. Our doctors may use a surgical stent when evaluating treatment and placement of dental implants to locate the optimal implant placement site. They perform a wide range of treatments on the gums and gum tissue. From common scaling and root planing, and dental implants, to less common osseous surgery and tissue grafts.
Commonly due to gum disease, if your gums have recessed, a gum (gingival) recession treatment or tissue grafting may be needed. In some cases of gum diseases that have not responded to scaling and root planing along with proper maintenance and care an osseous surgery may be required, think of it as an extra deep cleaning. On the other end of the spectrum, if your gums cover too much of your teeth and you have a “gummy” smile, we perform crown lengthening. If you have abnormal growths or lesions on your gums, a gum biopsy may be performed. Our Periodontist removed a sample of your gum tissue and use it to diagnose cancer and causes of the abnormal growths.
CAMEO DENTAL SPECIALISTS BERWYN OFFICE ENDODONTICS
An Endodontist is a dentist who has had additional schooling to specialize in the treatment of the dental pulp and tissue inside the tooth. Our Berwyn doctors have performed thousands of root canals, and with the advances in dentistry, they are nothing to fear. However, we do offer nitrous Oxide and iv sedation to help calm your nerves. If a root canal does not heal properly or develops new problems due to poor oral care, or complications, which may take years to develop, a root canal retreatment may be necessary. A root canal retreatment is a second chance to save the tooth. If a root canal retreatment was unsuccessful, and infected tissue remains, an apicoectomy (apico) may be needed. During an apico, our endodontist will remove the root tip or apex along with the infected tissue. A filling is then placed to seal the end of the root. A periapical surgery is reserved for the most serious of root canal cases. If the infected material travels into a different canal area, a periapical surgery may be needed to reach the infected area and remove the bacteria and restore the tooths health.
ORAL SURGERY
An Oral Surgeon is a dentist that has had additional training in a hospital-based surgical environment, focused on procedures involving the facial and jaw structures.
One of the standard procedures, dental implants, require enough bone to support the implant post. If you do not have enough bone mass to support the implant, our oral surgeons will go over all your options. Depending on the location of the implant you may need a sinus augmentation or bone graft. Bone grafting is also performed when a tooth is extracted to promote bone growth.
If you are missing most or all of your teeth on your upper and lower arches, or if you are unhappy with your dentures, our oral surgeons utilize a revolutionary system by Nobel BioCare. The all on 4 treatment concept, which uses four dental implants to permanently fix prosthetics and restore teeth function and give you back your smile.
Our oral surgeons are highly skilled in utilizing advanced technology and techniques to proved our patients with the highest quality and care.
