CAMEO DENTAL SPECIALISTS LA GRANGE OFFICE
Cameo Dental Specialists in La Grange, IL, wants to ensure that all of our patients can enjoy the benefits of having a healthy mouth. We decided to offer various dental specialty services at one of our conveniently located offices. This means that you no longer have to go to or call another office to receive your oral care and you don’t have to set up billing elsewhere or deal with commuting to another office to receive treatments. The specialties that we offer are periodontics, endodontics, and oral surgery.
ENDODONTICS
An Endodontists specialize in the techniques and procedures to save badly damaged teeth. One of the commonly performed procedures is a Root canal. Root canal treatments are the main specialty of an endodontist. Which includes a root canal retreatment when a root canal fails. Endodontists will also perform an Apicoectomy (Apico), which is the removal of the root tip or Apex if it becomes infected. With the canal system of a tooth being so complex, if the infection spreads to other canals, a periapical surgery is needed. A periapical surgery is a delicate procedure that requires a dental microscope in order to remove all of the infected tissue and allowing the tooth to heal properly and be restored.
A root canal may be needed when a tooth receives physical trauma which damages the pulp, or a deep infection from a cavity. Endodontists remove the damaged parts of the tooth. Depending on how badly damaged the tooth is and how much of the tooth can be saved they may use a filling to finish the root canal treatment. Finally, they will place a permanent crown to restore both function and aesthetics to your smile.
We know that you may be nervous or fearful when you hear the term “root canal”. However, with all the advances in modern dentistry and our extensive training, you do not need to worry. To ensure our patients are comfortable we provide both Nitrous Oxide and IV Sedation to calm your nerves.
PERIODONTICS
A Periodontist specializes in the supporting structures of the teeth, including the gums or Gingiva, cementum, alveolar bone and the periodontal ligament. You may not realize how important the gums are to having a happy and healthy mouth. Without proper oral hygiene your gums will eventually develop periodontal (gum) disease. Periodontist are also highly skilled in the placement of dental implants. At Cameo Dental Specialists our Periodontist may use advanced technologies and techniques, including surgical stents to ensure optimal placement of dental implants.
When periodontal disease has developed, a scaling and root planing treatment is needed to give a deep clean. In some cases the gums may start to recede and a gingival recession treatment or tissue grafts may be necessary.
ORAL SURGERY
An Oral Surgeon is a dentist who has received medical training in a hospital-based residency program for surgeons. They have been trained to administer all levels of general anesthesia, and emergency medicine. Their main focus is the treatment of the face, jaw, and mouth.

Directions to Our Practice
If you haven’t been to our La Grange location before, here are two easy ways to find it using the public library as a starting point.
- Get onto LaGrange Rd heading south, then turn right onto 55th St. We’re on the left side right before the diagonal intersection with Plainfield Rd, with parking behind the building.
- If for whatever reason you don’t want to use LaGrange Rd, you could get onto Cossitt Ave heading west, then turn left onto Ashland Ave. After a few blocks, turn right onto 47th St, then left onto Brainard Ave at St. John’s Lutheran Church. About a block after passing the country club, turn left onto 55th St, and we’ll be the first thing on your right after the diagonal intersection.

Originally a tranquil retreat for Chicagoans escaping the bustling city, La Grange was first settled by pioneers like Robert Leitch, who sought the serenity of rural life just 13 miles from downtown Chicago — an area that today blends historical allure with modern convenience.
La Grange was officially incorporated on June 11, 1879, envisioned by Franklin Dwight Cossitt. Born in Connecticut and raised in Tennessee, Cossitt moved to Chicago in 1862 and prospered in the wholesale grocery industry. His vision for La Grange began in 1870 when he purchased extensive farmland along the historical Chicago-Dixon Road, now known as Ogden Avenue. This road, once a Native American trail, played a significant role in the area’s development, especially when the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad established La Grange as a key stop.
Cossitt meticulously planned the village to ensure it was a model suburban community. He laid out streets, planted trees, and donated land for churches and schools, fostering a wholesome, tightly-knit community. He built quality homes and imposed liquor restrictions to maintain the town’s family-friendly atmosphere.
After the devastation of the Great Chicago Fire in 1871, La Grange became a haven for many of the city’s residents, offering a fresh start within easy commuting distance to Chicago. The introduction of telephone service by Dr. George Fox in the 1880s revolutionized local communication, marking the beginning of a period of rapid growth and development. By the early 20th century, La Grange had transformed from a modest village into a bustling suburban community.
